Record Participation and Massive Impact on Revenue
Since its inception, the “Bring a Bill, Get a Prize” scheme has witnessed overwhelming public response. Transactions worth Rs. 263 crore were uploaded through nearly 6.5 lakh bills. This citizen engagement initiative has not only encouraged consumers to demand proper bills but also motivated businesses to comply with tax norms. Officials note that the consistent rise in digital uploads and voluntary compliance reflects a significant cultural shift towards honesty and cooperation in the state’s economic ecosystem.
Turning Tax Compliance into a Public Movement
The scheme represents a dynamic step in transforming tax compliance into a participatory public movement. By linking consumer incentives with invoice uploads, the government has effectively bridged the gap between policy and people. This model has emerged as both a consumer-awareness campaign and a shared responsibility framework, helping create a transparent business environment while ensuring equitable growth of state finances.
A Mega Lucky Draw that Captured Public Excitement
The most recent Mega Lucky Draw under the scheme saw citizens rewarded for their active participation. Two lucky winners drove home electric cars, while 16 others received cars. Additionally, 20 participants won e-scooters, 50 received motorcycles, 100 won laptops, 200 won smart TVs, 500 received tablets, and 1,000 participants took home microwaves and other exciting prizes.
These rewards not only celebrate public cooperation but also highlight Uttarakhand government’s innovative approach to motivating citizens through recognition and incentives.
Government’s Commitment to Transparency and Innovation
The Chief Minister emphasized that the success of the “Bring a Bill, Get a Prize” scheme symbolizes a forward-thinking approach to governance—where people are treated not as subjects but as stakeholders in development. The state plans to expand digital outreach and awareness programs to ensure even broader participation in future editions.
The initiative has already become a model for other states aiming to reform their tax systems through public partnership and behavioral incentives. It stands as a shining example of how innovation and inclusion can coexist within governance.
