Uttarakhand Chief Minister Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami actively participated in a five-day religious and social programme at Jeevandeep Ashram in Roorkee, engaging with young children, saints, and devotees. The event underscored the ashram’s role as a “living pilgrimage” guiding society toward moral and spiritual values.

CM Dhami Engages with Saints, Seers, and Devotees at Roorkee Ashram
Addressing religious leaders and devotees, CM Dhami paid homage to the late Padma Bhushan awardee Swami Satyamitranand Giri and offered respects to Jagadguru Mahamandaleshwar Swami Yatindranand Giri and other seers. He emphasized that spiritual institutions play a pivotal role in fostering social discipline and value-based guidance.
Five-Day Religious Event Blends Faith, Education, and Social Outreach
The event, organized by Jeevan Deep Seva Nyas, included a Shat Chandi Mahayagya, discourses on Bhaktamal, the worship of 1,100 girls, distribution of study material, and a mass marriage ceremony. CM Dhami highlighted that such programmes combine religious observance with societal service, reinforcing the message of compassion and community engagement.
Inaugurations and Shaheed Chowk Pay Tribute to Martyrs and Spiritual Leaders
CM Dhami inaugurated the Swami Satyamitranand Giri auditorium, the Shri Siddhbali Hanuman gate, and a newly developed Shaheed Chowk at the ashram campus. He stated that the intersection of Main Marg and Sunahara Marg would officially be named Shaheed Chowk, serving as a lasting reminder of the sacrifices made by martyrs.
State Government Initiatives Highlight Legal, Administrative, and Youth Empowerment Measures
CM Dhami also highlighted legal and administrative initiatives, including the implementation of anti-conversion and stringent anti-riot laws, action against land encroachment, and a Uniform Civil Code. He pointed out youth-focused measures, such as an anti-cheating law in recruitment examinations, which enabled over 26,000 young people to secure government jobs. The Chief Minister further detailed reforms in religious education, including the sealing of over 250 unauthorized madrasas and a new regulatory law to ensure compliance by 1 July 2026.
CM and Ms. Geeta Dhami Celebrate Children and Mass Weddings
During the programme, CM Dhami personally worshipped 11 girls, presented them with gifts and honorariums, and extended blessings to six couples married during the mass ceremony. Ms. Geeta Dhami praised the ashram’s initiatives, including community meals and the empowerment of girls, highlighting the state’s focus on social welfare through faith-based activities.
The event was attended by seers from various akharas, religious bodies, public representatives, and senior district and police officials, reflecting the collaborative spirit between government, society, and religious institutions.
