Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami outlined ambitious development plans on Tuesday, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the state’s formation. During a special assembly session, CM Dhami announced that over Rs 2 lakh crore worth of infrastructure and development projects are currently underway, which will pave the way for Uttarakhand to become one of India’s leading states.
The chief minister emphasized that these initiatives, backed by the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will ensure that Uttarakhand plays a pivotal role in realizing the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).
Development Projects Reshaping Uttarakhand’s Future
In his address, CM Dhami listed several key projects transforming the state’s infrastructure landscape. Among the most notable is the Rishikesh-Karnprayag rail project, which aims to enhance rail connectivity in the region. The state government is also focused on expanding all-weather roads, enhancing air connectivity, and implementing ropeway systems that will not only improve tourism but also create new economic opportunities.
The ambitious vision for the state’s future is underpinned by the formulation of 30 new policies in various sectors, particularly energy, tourism, and infrastructure.
Uttarakhand’s Role in National Development
According to CM Dhami, these development initiatives will boost the state’s role in India’s growth story. “Once these projects are completed, Uttarakhand will be at the forefront of the country’s transformation into a developed nation,” he remarked, highlighting the state’s potential as an economic and tourism hub.
Key Achievements and Government Reforms
Under CM Dhami’s leadership, the state has also introduced several landmark reforms. He mentioned the introduction of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stringent anti-conversion and anti-riot laws, along with new anti-cheating regulations to enhance transparency and fairness. Moreover, the state government has focused on the upliftment of minorities with policies for their education and welfare.
On the issue of corruption, Dhami outlined that over 200 corrupt officials, including senior IAS, PCS, and IFS officers, had been penalized. In a significant move against encroachment, the government has freed 9,000 acres of land, taking action against what he termed land jihad, love jihad, and spit jihad.
Focus on Employment and Future Prospects
A major focus of the Dhami government has been employment generation. He highlighted that over 26,000 jobs have been created over the past four years, and he remains committed to ensuring further opportunities for the state’s youth.
“These are not just decisions for the present, but historic choices that will have far-reaching impacts on future generations,” Dhami remarked.
Honoring the Legacy of Statehood Movement Leaders
During his speech, CM Dhami also paid tribute to the leaders and activists who fought for Uttarakhand’s formation and acknowledged the crucial role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who not only created the state but also provided a crucial economic package for its development.
Conclusion: A Vision for a Developed Uttarakhand
As Uttarakhand celebrates 25 years of statehood, CM Dhami’s focus is clear — to build a prosperous, corruption-free, and well-connected state that will serve as a model for national development. With a mix of infrastructure, policies, and social reforms, Uttarakhand’s future looks poised for growth, with a promise to its people of lasting economic and social benefits.
