‘Umang-2026’: Bihar Polytechnic Students Excel in Singing, Writing, Art, and Cultural Competitions

State-Level Fest Highlights Talent Across Music, Debate, Storytelling, Painting, and Quiz Events; Winners Felicitated by Technical Education Department

Patna: The state-level sports, cultural, and literary festival ‘Umang-2026’ witnessed an impressive display of talent by students from Bihar’s government polytechnic institutes. Participants showcased their creativity, critical thinking, and artistic skills across diverse competitions including singing, essay writing, storytelling, painting, poster-making, quizzes, debates, and group discussions.

The festival offered a platform for students to express their intellectual and artistic capabilities at a state-level stage, encouraging confidence, teamwork, and cultural engagement.

Singing and Music Competitions

In the singing competition, Harsh Raj from Government Polytechnic, Banka emerged as the winner, while Chandravir Kumar from Government Polytechnic, Supaul secured the runner-up position. In Dumb Charades, Om Kumar Gupta and Chandan Kumar from Government Polytechnic, Khagaria were winners, with Aryan Thakur and Shivam Kumar from Government Polytechnic, Bhagalpur as runners-up.

Quiz and Intellectual Competitions

The quiz competition saw Kishan Kumar Srivastava and Aditya Raj from Government Polytechnic, Patna-7 take first place, while Bittu Kumar and Rana from Government Polytechnic, Muzaffarpur were runners-up.

In group discussions (English) and debates (English), Avishri from GP Purnia secured the top position, with Prakriti Soumya (GWP Patna-14) and Palak Kumari (NGP Patna-13) as runners-up, respectively. Prakriti Soumya won the extempore competition in English, with Avishri finishing as runner-up.

Storytelling and Essay Writing Excellence

Storytelling competitions were held in both Hindi and English. Kajal Kumari (GWP Patna-14) won in Hindi storytelling, while Vidushi Ranjan (GWP Muzaffarpur) triumphed in English storytelling.

Essay writing competitions also highlighted student talent: Sajan Kumar from GP Banka won the Hindi category, and Stuti Kumari from Government Polytechnic, Motihari secured the first position in English essay writing.

Art and Creativity Recognized

In visual arts competitions, Nikhil Kumar from Government Polytechnic, Motihari won the painting contest, while Alisha Singh from Government Polytechnic, Bhojpur took first place in poster-making.

All winners and runners-up were felicitated and awarded by the Department of Science, Technology, and Technical Education, recognizing their achievements and contributions.

Next Phase: Polytechnic Engineering Competitions

The ‘Umang-2026’ festival will now progress to the next phase, which will include state-level sports and cultural competitions for students from government engineering colleges. The festival aims to foster holistic development, creativity, and healthy competition among students, preparing them for professional and academic excellence.
