In a significant reshuffle, the Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 10 IPS officers, including key positions in various police divisions. The transfers, announced on Monday, come just days after the state government executed a major reshuffle of senior bureaucrats, with more than 40 IAS officers being moved.

Among the key transfers, Meenakshi Sharma, a 1995-batch IPS officer currently serving as Additional Police Commissioner in Bhopal, has been appointed as the Additional Police Commissioner for Community Policing and the RTI department at the Police Headquarters.

Tushar Kant Vidyarthi, a 2009-batch IPS officer who served as Additional IG in Jabalpur, has been appointed as Additional IG at the Police Headquarters in Bhopal, with Atul Singh (also a 2009-batch IPS officer) replacing him as Additional IG in Jabalpur.

In addition to these high-profile transfers, the state government also made changes to the leadership in several districts. Ajay Pandey (2012-batch IPS) has been appointed as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Chhindwara, while Ramji Shrivastava (2013-batch IPS) and Manish Khatri (2016-batch IPS) have been posted as SPs of Shahdol and Singrauli districts, respectively.

These transfers come on the heels of a significant reshuffling of IAS officers in the state, which has led to increased political and public debate.

In the past 10 months, a staggering 282 IAS officers – or 74 percent of the total strength of IAS officers in the state – have been transferred, which opposition described as indicative of instability and chaos within the administration.
