The Uttar Pradesh Government has formed two three-member Special Task Forces to investigate and monitor the probe into the killing of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf. The first SIT, to be headed by Assistant DCP Satish Chandra, will look into Ahmed’s murder.
While the second SIT will supervise the first unit. The second SIT would be headed by Additional Director General, Prayagraj Zone, Bhanu Bhaskar and would include Director Forensic Science Laboratory and Police Commissioner Prayagraj as its members.
Atiq and Ashraf Ahmed involved in many cases, including the February murder of Umesh Pal, were shot dead on April 15 while being taken for a medical checkup in Prayagraj. Both criminals were attacked by three shooters disguised as journalists. The shooting that occurred around 10 pm was caught live on camera.
