The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) had constructed 12,349 kilometres of National Highway between 2023-24 – the second-highest stretch of highway construction in India’s history. The highest being 13,327 kilometres of national highways in 2020-21.
A senior official from the ministry stated that MoRTH has awarded a whopping 8,581 national highway projects in 2023-24, and the Centre has launched a pilot project to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims. As a result, accident victims shall be entitled to receive cashless treatment up to Rs. 1.5 lakh.
