District training is a pivotal phase in the journey of an IAS officer, where classroom knowledge meets the real world. To know more about the district training, Indian Masterminds spoke with trainee IAS officer Arnav Mishra, who has shared many anecdotes from his training. He is currently posted as an Assistant Collector in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

Watch the video here:

He has offered a glimpse into his initial experiences during district training. As he navigates the real-world application of schemes like MGNREGA and Har Ghar Nal Se Jal, he finds himself in awe of India’s vast administrative machinery. Having studied these programs during his preparation and at the academy, witnessing their implementation at the grassroots level has deepened his respect for the scale and impact of governance.

Arnav also acknowledges that while theoretical knowledge is essential, the reality of administration often requires a different mindset, especially in managing people and ensuring the effective implementation of programs. He credits the mentorship of senior officers and the support of a dedicated team for helping him navigate the challenges of district administration.

Moreover, he emphasizes the importance of departmental attachments during training, which provide him with a comprehensive understanding of how different sectors function. This foundational knowledge is indispensable for his future role as an independent officer, where he will be responsible for leading and managing these departments effectively.

Through his experiences, Arnav Mishra’s district training has not only broadened his perspective but also reinforced the significance of every level of governance in shaping the nation.
