Authorities in Baghpat uncovered a counterfeit water bottle operation mimicking the Bisleri brand, seizing large quantities of fake bottles in a swift raid led by the FSDA after District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh raised the alarm.

In Baghpat, a surprising incident sent shockwaves through the local food department when a fake water bottle, disguised under a familiar brand name, landed on the desk of District Magistrate (DM) Jitendra Pratap Singh. The bottle bore a striking resemblance to the popular brand Bisleri, but with a misleading label: “Bisalleri.” DM Singh, immediately sensing something was amiss, called in his team of officials and raised the alarm.

Acting swiftly, Singh directed the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) to take immediate action. Led by Assistant Food Safety Commissioner Manvendra Singh, a raid was swiftly organized. What they uncovered was staggering—shops and warehouses were filled with water bottles bearing counterfeit names such as “Bislari” and “Bilseri,” all designed to trick consumers into thinking they were purchasing the trusted Bisleri brand.

The trail led investigators to a clandestine operation in Gauripur Jawahar Nagar village, where a makeshift factory had been producing these counterfeit bottles without any legal license. Water was being bottled in unhygienic conditions and passed off as a trusted brand.

The FSDA team stormed the site, confiscating a massive stockpile of these fake bottles. The operation didn’t end there. In a dramatic scene, the bottles were taken to an open field where they were destroyed and buried, putting an end to the deceitful practice.

A video from the incident surfaced, showing DM Jitendra Pratap Singh examining one of the counterfeit bottles before decisively ordering action. His swift response and the rigorous raid by the FSDA team have sent a clear message: such fraud will not be tolerated in Baghpat. The entire episode highlighted the importance of vigilance in protecting consumers from unscrupulous businesses looking to make a quick profit at the expense of public health.
