The Amazing Mishra Family Now Plans to Take Their Legacy Forward

Indian Masterminds Stories

This Rakshabandhan was again very special for the ‘Amazing Mishra Family’. As per their tradition, the four siblings, who have a world record in their name for cracking UPSC CSE, got together to celebrate the occasion in Delhi, the place where they first started their journey from.  The siblings, who are originally from Uttar Pradesh, are Mr. Yogesh Mishra, Mr. Lokesh Mishra, Ms. Kshama Mishra and Ms. Madhavi Mishra. They all cleared UPSC CSE and have their names in the India Book of Records 2024 for ‘Maximum siblings qualified the civil services exam in consecutive years’.

This time, when all of them were together at the official residence of Mr. Yogesh Mishra in Old Rajendra Nagar, who is currently posted in the PMO, they decided to walk down the memory lane. Like every other UPSC aspirants, this place has a special connection for them. Though only the sisters stayed in the area, yet the place has an important role in the brothers’ journeys as well.

During their revisit, the four siblings decided to take their legacy forward. In an exclusive conversation with Indian Masterminds, Mr. Yogesh Mishra shared their plan and some experiences from their journey in Old Rajendra Nagar.

SO MUCH HAVE CHANGED

Mr. Yogesh was the first one to crack the exam in 2014 and was then followed by his three siblings. While, Ms. Kshama is on child care leave in Bangalore, Lokesh Mishra (IAS 2016) is DM Khunti in Jharkhand. Ms. Madhavi is also an IAS of Jharkhand cadre. This time, they all decided to meet up in Delhi.

After the Rakhi rituals, they took a walk in Old Rajendra Nagar. It was amusing for them to see how much of it has changed now. “When my sisters used to live here and we would visit them, things were different. There was scarcity for UPSC materials, especially for the Hindi medium candidates. Now there is a problem of plenty! We could spot shops with various coaching materials and books,” said the eldest of the Mishra siblings.

They talked to various aspirants and some old shop owners, too. All of them indicated towards the confusion among the aspirants.

While walking down the memory lane, they also went up to the house where both the sisters used to stay. They enjoyed ice-creams at the shop that was right across the street. However, their conversation revolved around the aspirants now, who can be noticed really struggling to cope with the confusion of too many resources.

PLAN TO TAKE THE LEGACY FORWARD

The siblings then decided to help four aspirants, two boys and two girls, just like them. While, Mr. Yogesh Mishra, who had mentored his brother and sisters, will take care of the studies, the others will guide the aspirants on the experiences in the field, when needed. Mr. Yogesh Mishra is already mentoring many students for the upcoming UPSC CSE Mains exam and will select the four candidates after it gets over. “They will have my full attention and I will prepare them for UPSC CSE 2024. We will ensure that candidates who are giving their last attempt gets the required guidance to make it,” he said.

He also pointed out that besides the access to content, the pattern change is also bothering the aspirants. This year, the CSAT paper was comparatively tough. Although, it is just a qualifying paper, it can still lead to a loss of attempt for the aspirants. The Mishra siblings are now ready to be the mentors and guides for four aspirants, under the leadership of the eldest brother.
