In the buzzing heart of Hyderabad, where technology powers every corner of life, one officer ensures that the city’s digital pulse beats safely. IPS Dara Kavitha, DCP Cyber Crimes, stands at the intersection of law, technology, and public trust, fighting a new-age war where criminals hide behind screens instead of masks.
An engineering graduate turned police officer, Kavitha’s journey began far from the cyber world. After a brief stint in the Cooperative Societies Department, she joined the police service in 2010 and quickly earned a reputation for leading from the front. Her early postings as SDPO in Nalgonda and Medak districts shaped her as a field officer who understood people as much as procedure.
But it was her work with SHE Teams that truly put her on the national map. Under her leadership, Hyderabad’s women safety initiative not only curbed harassment on streets but also became a model replicated across six states. Her efforts earned her the CSI Nihilent e-Governance Award and recognition from the U.S. Consulate, which selected her for the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) on human trafficking and gender-based violence.

Despite her high-pressure role, Kavitha never loses sight of the human side of policing. Whether it’s training new recruits during the pandemic or ensuring justice for victims of cyber fraud, she leads with calm authority and compassion.
In a city that thrives on code and connectivity, IPS Dara Kavitha ensures that safety keeps pace with progress, proving that effective policing in the digital age begins with both heart and hardware.
