A Davos-Like Media & Entertainment Summit in Mumbai

It couldn’t have been bigger. The global congregation of media and entertainment figures aptly titled World Audiovisual and Entertainment Summit (Waves) 2025 from May 1 to May 4 in Mumbai is expected to attract over a lakh participants from over 100 countries to showcase their talents, hardware, and software.

You name a cinema celebrity worth its salt, and it’s there on Waves Advisory Board. From Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikant to Amir Khan and Shahrukh Khan; from AR Rahman to SS Rajamouli, From Hema Malini to Deepika Padukone; from CEO of Sony Pictures and Netflix to CEO of Amazon Prime Video and from Satya Nadella CEO of Microsoft to Sunder Pichai, CEO of Google and Alphabet; they are all there. But, the actual event will be much bigger. There will be top brass of Meta and Open AI as well. It is not for nothing that its being labelled as Davos of Media & Entertainment (M&E) industry, comparing it to World Economic Form (WEF), the annual jamboree of world leaders. Top M&E executives from all over the world are trooping in to Mumbai to participate in Waves 2025. Mr. Ashutosh Mohle, Joint Director, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B), serves as the Nodal Officer for WaveX. Indian Masterminds caught up with him to know more about the first-ever summit of its kind being organised in India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a roundtable meeting with CEOs of all global top companies participating in the summit. There will be a Waves Bazaar where every one can showcase their hardware and software. This is bound to leapfrog India as one of best destinations for M&E sector.

India’s M&E sector is growing at a CAGR of 28 per cent is likely to cross $3 trillion within next couple of years.
