Cybercriminals are on the prowl. They are committing crimes almost every other day. We hear about people being digitally arrested, defrauded through artificial intelligence and deep fakes. Financial crimes and cryptocurrency crimes are on the rise. In such a scenario an institute which deals with training on catching cybercriminals, is of utmost importance.

Central Detective Training Institute, Jaipur, a subsidiary of the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), has been training police officers across a major swathe of Hindi heartland, on raising awareness, preventing and investigating cybercriminals. Its director Dr. Amandeep Singh Kapoor, a 2007 batch IPS officer of Rajasthan cadre is a learned man. He has done number of courses in law, management and forensic sciences from various prestigious institutes in the country like IITs and IIMs. A medico by education, Dr. Kapoor also uses like knowledge of medicine in solving complex crime puzzles.
During his tenure as SSP Jodhpur, Dr Kapoor handled Asaram Bapu, Salman Khan and Lawrence Bishnoi when they were lodged together in Jodhpur Jail – Salman in Black Buck shooting case, Asaram in rape case and Lawrence Bishnoi in a murder case.
Dr Kapoor is credited with busting the entire Lawrence Bishnoi gang, arresting over a dozen members including his brother Anmol Bishnoi. Of course, most gang members are out in the open now, but only after serving the sentence given to them by the court.
