Yesterday, we wrote about how retired IPS officer Prateep V Philip’s close encounters with death awakened his spiritual side. Today, we explore that side of his – how he started focusing more on the bigger power that is and imparting his spirituality and wisdom to anyone who wishes to acquire it.
In an attempt to do so, the officer went beyond the call of his career and domain to not only develop an entirely new stream of psychology, a new subject, and win several world records but also became the first-ever person to compose over 3000 original maxims!
In his exclusive conversation with Indian Masterminds, the officer spoke about his spiritual side and how it affected his worldview and inspired his foray into different worlds.
3333 MAXIMS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR LIFE
Mr. Philips has taken the path of a motivational writer and is the first person in the world to collate the largest number of original quotes in a span of 10 years.
He started penning down his thoughts as maxims and called his quotes ‘Fillipisms’ to pun with his surname ‘Philip’.
“But it means more than that. The word ‘fillip’ means encouragement. The idea is to encourage every human being to do his best and be his best,” he said.
He compiled his copyrighted quotes into a book titled, ‘Fillipisms – 3333 Maxims to Maximize your life’. With this book, the officer holds the world record for writing the maximum number of original quotes in the history of mankind, in any language.
“The last record was held by King Solomon in 970-931 BC for having 3000 spoken quotes, of which only a few hundred are known to us today. No one has ever been able to touch that record until now,” he told Indian Masterminds.
The book is a historic and monumental achievement in the officer’s life. It has also entered its name in World Records Union and Asia Records. The book has 2.5 times the number of maxims in the Tamil classic, Thirukurral, and is more varied and encyclopedic than most other thinkers of history. He has used several images, metaphors, puns, humor, wit, and mnemonics to make his maxims interesting and understandable.
“Although I have been writing since I was a teenager, this can be considered my Magnum Opus,” he said.
MEETING THE QUEEN
Mr. Philip is the creator of many new ideas as well. His ‘Friends of Police’ initiative was his very first contribution, which went on to become a model for the whole world in community policing.
For this, he was honored with the British Gurukul Chevening Scholarship for Excellence and Leadership on India’s Golden Jubilee in the year 1997.
“The best of all domains was invited to apply in the open contest. From there, we were to be shortlisted, following two interviews for elimination. I was selected and received a chance to meet Queen Elizabeth II, along with the other scholars who were selected from different domains.”
Mr. Philip was the first and only Indian Civil Servant who was selected for the inaugural flagship Chevening Scholarship.
After five years of this incident, he won the Queen’s Award for Innovation in Police Training and Development for his ‘Friends of Police’ initiative.
“They instituted this new award on her Coronation Anniversary for sworn police personnel and ministerial components for bringing development in the field of policing and administration.”
He won the award along with 15000 British pounds in the year 2002. He was the first person outside the UK to achieve this honor. Thereafter, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu also honored him with a silver platter and a medal for his achievement.
EQUILIBRIUM THINKING
Mr. Philip utilized the 15000 pounds in setting up FOP’s Training and Documentation Centre in Chennai, wherein over 1 lakh police personnel and the public were trained jointly, in a span of 10 years.
He used his own unique concepts for the training and became the first thinker in the world to discover an entirely new thought process that goes by the name ‘Equilibrium Thinking’.
“It is a new methodology for thought training and spurring creativity in human minds. It is a new branch of psychology apart from positive and negative psychology and involves binary thought processes and commands.”
Equilibrium Thinking is psychology for everyday living which makes it accurate and applicable. It leads to human creativity and enables two thought processes to run simultaneously in a complementary manner.
EXCENOMICS
After practicing the idea of Equilibrium Thinking for 10-15 years, Mr. Philip got the idea of creating a new subject altogether, called ‘Excenomics’. It is a new Visionary Global Discipline, with an aim to re-invent education, management, and economics with its focus on Human Capital Excellence.
“Excenomics is the emphasis on training and achieving excellence across multiple disciplines – Personal, Inter-personal, Design, Corporate, and Quality Standards. Its motto is to provide qualitative excellence and growth, over quantitative milestones and targets.”
Through this, the officer also became the first person in the world to create an individual subject. It is also the first subject that studies Excellence and its connection and impact on Economics.
PROTOSYNTHESIS
Another unique concept that birthed out of the officer’s mind is ‘Protosynthesis’. It simply imparts that if individuals bask in the light of the Almighty, it will stimulate them to be more creative and endearing. Furthermore, it will help the individual in producing things that are useful to them and humanity.
He has also had a keen interest in public speaking ever since he was a young teenager. He believes his oratorical skills are a natural gift. He has had several years of practice in the field of oratory with sometimes comparisons being drawn to Jawahar Lal Nehru, Barack Obama, and John. F. Kennedy for his speaking skills.
Mr. Philip will soon add another World Record to his collection, with the release of 30 new book titles simultaneously. Indian Masterminds wishes him the best in all his endeavors.
