Now here is a collaboration which is bound to turn heads. In a first of its kind, IAS officer Mr Abhishek Singh who has also forayed into acting and noted designer Ms Suzanne Khan have joined hands. They have formed a trust, aptly named `World of Wardi’ (The World of Uniform), to improve the lot of police personnel across the country.

To start with, the trust will be revamping the famous Bandra Police Station of Mumbai, Maharashtra. In fact, the pics of Mr Abhishek Singh and Ms Suzanne Khan together – a kind of photo-op for the occasion few days ago- turned out to be a buzzing topic of interest in the social platforms of various hues.

In an interview with Indian Masterminds, Mr Singh talked about and whjat shape was it going to take.

The initiative will start with the renovation of Bandra Police Station

How it All Began

Mr. Singh is a 2011 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre. Currently posted as a Deputy Commissioner in Delhi, he is going to be the first IAS officer to star in television show. He says that when the news of him acting in a web series came out, many officers started telling him that they would also like to explore their creative abilities. While they were sharing their feelings, Mr. Singh thought of taking it out of the conversations and create a platform where people working in uniform could showcase their talent.  One of the off-shoots of `Wonders of Wardi’ is a talent show (it’s still being planned) with creative competitions in singing and dancing etc. The show should become a reality soon, possibly in the next few months.

Currently posted as the Deputy Commissioner in Delhi , Ms. Singh will be seen in upcoming Delhi Crime 2

Said Mr Singh, “People working in uniform are also facing similar problems like rest of us. But, in the recent decades their image has been negatively affected due to some reasons. With ‘World of Wardi’ I am trying to bridge that gap between the public and the forces. General public will come closer to the forces and join hands for their betterment.’’

Citizen – police partnership

Speaking about the initiative involving restructuring of Bandra Police Station, Mr Singh said, “ Police represents the government and government is the representative of public. We will be doing the exteriors & interiors of the police station according to the needs of people working there. Our aim is to redevelop the station to a world class standard.”

When asked about why the initiative is being started from Bandra and not from any police station in Delhi, as he is posted the national capital, Mr Singh replied that theirs’ was a pan-India initiative.

The Suzanne Khan Connection

Ms. Khan has come forward to do the beautification of Bandra Station

Interior Designer and former wife of actor Hrithik Roshan, Ms. Suzanne Khan is collaborating with the IAS officer for redoing the police station. “As more people come forward, we will rope in several other police stations as well”, he added.

He also emphasized that renovations of Government buildings was just a part of this whole; they were figuring out ways where the citizens of India could come forward to help the uniformed forces, such as supporting the studies of their children.

Mr Singh is going to be seen in the second season of the web series ‘Delhi Crime’. He said that his excitement has increased exponentially after Delhi Crime won the prestigious Emmy Awards.
