An IPS officer from Chhattisgarh, who is known for guiding the youth and uploading fitness related pictures and videos on social media, is in news now for reuniting a teenage girl, who had gone gone missing, with her parents. Currently serving as the Inspector General (IG) of Bilaspur Range in Chhattisgarh, Mr. Ratan Lal Dangi is an officer who never says no to people asking for help.
As the officer is quite active on social media and also has a good following, many people reach out to him for help on digital platforms. Recently, one such incident happened when Mr. Dangi’s telephone numbers were accessed by a police sub inspector of Rajasthan to seek help in reuniting a teenage girl with her parents in Chhattisgarh. Mr. Dangi readily swung into action and the girl is now being brought back home.
There have been many such cases where the officer took no time in solving problems of people, even if they are not from his designated area.
FLED TO RAJASTHAN
The incident took place on Saturday, when Mr. Dangi received a call from Jodhpur. A sub-inspector was on line and was asking about a teenage girl who belonged from the Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district in Chhattisgarh and was found in the Jodhpur Commissionerate.
Mr. Ratan Lal Dangi, while speaking to Indian Masterminds, said, “As the girl was carrying her identity card or Aadhar, all the required details were readily available. I immediately contacted the Additional SP of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi and asked them to verify the missing girl. After verification, we got to know that her father had filed a missing report just a day back.”
Luck favoured the girl as she was spotted in Jodhpur and was taken care of by police. Mr. Dangi coordinated with both the police personnel in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and completed the formalities to bring the girl back to her home.
REACHING THE OFFICER THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA
The case which could have taken a long time was solved within a day or two. This would not have been possible if the information did not reach Mr. Dangi. However, this time, social media came to the rescue, too. As Mr. Dangi is quite popular on social media and has his hometown in Rajasthan, the sub inspector, who found the girl, knew him.
The contact numbers were easily traceable as they were available on every social media handle of the officer. The sub-inspector took no time in contacting him directly and informing him about the missing girl. A team from Chhattisgarh left on Sunday and soon the girl will be reunited with her family.
This is not the first case in which the officer has helped a girl in distress. Few months back, he also helped two girls travelling in a train to Mumbai. The girls were being troubled by a person travelling in the same train. After Mr. Dangi got to know about the situation, he immediately took all the information and tagged the Mumbai Railway Police Commissionerate directly. Within 10 minutes, police personnel reached the spot and extended help to the girls.
The officer now says that all officers in public service should put out their numbers in their social media handles so that people can reach them directly in case of any emergency.
