Technology has made life much easier for all by providing information at just a click on mobile phones. Tapping this utility to help foreign and domestic tourists on their visit to the capital city, the Delhi government launched an app last year named ‘Dekho Meri Dilli’ – an all-in-one smart phone app that incorporates all tourism-related information.

This app is a one-stop shop for tourists and stakeholders alike, providing easy access to tourism information with one click.

Secretary (Tourism, Art & Culture), GNCTD and MD & CEO, Delhi Tourism, IAS officer Swati Sharma told Indian Masterminds, “Delhi Tourism is striving hard to ensure that tourists (both national and international) get the best experience of visiting Delhi. “Dekho Meri Dilli” app of Delhi Tourism, therefore provides a holistic view of different facets of tourism in Delhi whether from the perspective of sites or shopping or cuisine or spirituality or museums or bio-diversity or stay or transport arrangements etc. The Delhi Tourism mobile app, is one big step forward in the increasingly digital world, post Covid-19 pandemic.”

DEKHO MERI DILLI

Through this app, tourists can get information about the historic places in the city, art galleries, museums, National War Memorial, biodiversity parks and gardens, redeveloped Chandni Chowk, water bodies, religious and spiritual places, hotels, health walks, festivals celebrated in Delhi, etc. Other tourism-related information like tickets to all Delhi’s key attractions, including renowned markets, cafés, and other unexplored parts of the capital city is also available.

Travellers can also book tickets and schedule tours around Delhi using this app.

Not just this, the app also tells tourists which historical monuments, entertainment parks and other venues are open to the public. It also gives information about the best eating places within their vicinity.

At the same time, the mobile app also highlights the initiatives and achievements of various agencies like the Government of Delhi, Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Delhi airport, railways, inter-state bus terminals and management authorities of temples/churches/mosques/gurudwaras etc., contributing to institution building.

ANSWERING MULTIPLE QUERIES OF TOURISTS

This app has been made with considerable care, keeping the utmost requirements and needs of tourists, keeping in mind various challenges they face, like ticket bookings, absence of google maps, linked metro routes, absence of information for children and senior citizens, absence of digital food guides, transport facilities, location-based public conveniences, Embassy contacts for foreign tourists, ease of doing business for local handicraft artisan, etc.

The Google lens feature integrated into the app allows the users to see Delhi via lens. There is a ‘Delhi Darshan’ video feature also to give a visual treat of the city. One can also book a guide for a tour after selecting the language option.

COVID GUIDELINES & FEEDBACK

The app also has a section dedicated to protective measures against Covid-19, giving information about Covid guidelines.

It also has a feature for suggestions and feedbacks where apart from user rating, there are other components like – was the information sufficient, was the information accurate, etc. It also has a section asking the users to suggest any improvements or ideas for the app.

The Dekho Meri Dilli app is boosting tourism by providing a wholesome experience to its users, giving them accurate information about Delhi, thereby facilitating ease of movement around the city.
