The training institute for Indian Police Service officers, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), organised a week-long programme to celebrate the Convocation of the 73 RR (Regular Recruit) batch of IPS probationers. Guests and families of the IPS Probationers attended a Guest Night organized by the Academy as part of the Convocation Week.
Director, SVPNPA, Mr. A.S. Rajan, addressed the gathering of the probationers’ family members and guests, which was followed by a dinner to end the week-long celebrations.
Earlier, the academy also organised Service Dinner for the Probationers. Post dinner, 17 IPS Probationers, including 6 lady probationers of 73 RR, were awarded trophies for their achievements during the Phase I and II training.
CULTURAL NIGHT
A cultural night and various competitions like essay, elocution etc., were organized in the Academy as part of the convocation week. The audience was enthralled by the stage performance of the IPS Probationers and cheered them up with applauses.
IPS probationers Taposh Basumatary of Kerala cadre won the 55th batch of Senior Course Officers’ Trophy for the Best Turnout, while Anukriti Sharma of Uttar Pradesh cadre won Martyr L.B.Sewa Memorial Trophy for the Best Probationer in co-curricular activities.
Ayman Jamal of Tamil Nadu cadre won Ashesh Singhal Memorial Prize for English Debate while Mouryakrishna Chandrasekar of Tripura cadre won the second prize.
Chandrasekar also won the Home Ministry’s Trophy for the Best Essay on ‘Communal Harmony & National Integration’ and Rishabha Garg, IPS (P) of 73 RR of Jharkhand cadre won the second prize in the same category.
Rishabha Garg of Jharkhand cadre won the B.P. Singhal Trophy for Hindi Elocution.
LANGUAGE COMPETITION
To test the knowledge of the probationers in languages, various competitions were organised. The participants amazed the judges with their understanding of the subjects.
Harisha B C of Odisha cadre won the Odisha Govt Trophy for Excellence in Odia Language, while Paritosh Pankaj of Telangana cadre won the Union Home Ministry’s Trophy for Excellence in Telugu Language. Similarly, Madhu Kumari won the Tamil Nadu Govt Trophy for Excellence in Tamil Language, Teghbir Singh Sandhu won the Maharashtra Govt Trophy for Excellence in Marathi Language.
Sizal Agarwal (Assam & Meghalaya), George Allen John, Nidhi Thakur and B V Vijaya Bharath Reddy won the trophy for excellence in the Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati and Malayalam language respectively.
