AI Revolution: Students Ask Away, Teachers Get Supercharged

How about a classroom where students aren’t afraid to ask questions, where the internet is not just a source of information but a springboard for creativity, and where teachers have a powerful tool to personalize learning? This isn’t science fiction; it’s the AI revolution reality in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada district.

The inspiration for this program came from a simple observation. During a visit by Dantewada SDM Jayant Nahata, the children eagerly bombarded him with questions, a testament to their thirst for knowledge.

While visiting a residential hostel facility for students preparing for competitive exams in Dantewada, they began asking various exam syllabi, study plans, and available resources. “I realized that such basic questions are quite common. Considering we now have human-like aptitude in a machine, I pondered why we couldn’t provide students access to it and make them aware of this free technology to train them accordingly,” Mr. Nahata shared with Indian Masterminds.

How A Sensitive Woman Officer with A Visually Challenged One, Empowered Disabled Tribal Students In M.P.

For years, the state has been working hard on improving the lives of tribal communities. They’ve made great progress in areas like education, healthcare, farming, and building roads and other infrastructure in these areas. Despite the ongoing efforts made since 2009 through the Right to Education Act, there’s a group of children that has been left behind and often goes unnoticed by most people: children with disabilities from tribal areas. The Tribal Welfare Department of the MP government, led by IAS officers Pallavi Jain Govil and Krishna Gopal Tiwari, realized the importance of changing their approach towards children with disabilities from tribal areas.

In 2021, they made a structural change by allocating 2% reservation for these children in schools. However, many of these schools were still not equipped to support children with special needs. The main goal became to make these schools inclusive so that more specially-abled children from tribal backgrounds could access quality education.

Saving Punjab’s Water: Retired IAS Officer Kahan Pannu’s Game-Changing Rice Technique

Punjab faces a critical water crisis, with groundwater levels projected to deplete entirely within 15 years, driven by water-intensive paddy cultivation. Retired IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu has introduced a groundbreaking solution: the Seeding of Rice on Beds (SRB) technique. Unlike traditional methods requiring 5,000 liters of water per kilogram of rice, SRB uses 75% less water by sowing rice seeds on raised beds and watering only the furrows.

This method reduces labor dependency, costs, and methane emissions while improving soil health and rainwater recharge. Initial trials report yields comparable to traditional methods. With an affordable SRB sowing machine, Pannu envisions sustainable rice farming accessible to all, safeguarding Punjab’s agriculture and environment for future generations.
