As the new CBI chief Praveen Sood gets settled in the job, he has ensured at least one in the agency so far – following the rule book always. Few months into his new job, Sood told his senior officials no more attachments – no, he was not talking about material attachments!
What he actually meant was to put a stop on the practise of keeping officials posted at a particular location as attached officials despite them being transferred to another location. Suppose, an officer has been transferred from Delhi to Lucknow, the officer may still continue to work from Delhi as an attached officer on the excuse of being involved in an investigation.
The practise resulted in dozens of officials continue to operate from their earlier place of posting, in some case over a year, despite being transferred from there. But Sood has put a stop to it. No more attachments in CBI!
