The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension issued the official order regarding the appointment of Mr Ghanshyam Upadhyay, a senior IPS officer of the 1999 batch from Odisha cadre, as the Joint Director of the CBI. Earlier he was posted as IG in Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
Besides this, the order further states that senior IPS officer of 1998 batch from Tamil Nadu cadre Ms. Vidya Jayant Kulkarni, and senior IPS officer of 1995 batch from Maharashtra cadre Mr. Nawal Bajaj have also been appointed as Joint Director, CBI. All the officers has been appointed to the post for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders.
