High profile 1988-batch IAS officer Navneet Sehgal is back in the reckoning. He has been appointed as Principal Secretary, Information in UP Government. The task was so far being handled by Additional Chief Secretary Avanish Awasthi, who is also taking care of all important Home department.
The move implies that the state government wasn’t happy with the handling of Hathras gang rape incident in which a 19-years old Dalit girl was brutalized by four upper-caste boys on September 14.
Besides,Prabhashu Kumar Srivastav, a 2010-batch IAS officer of UP Cadre has been posted as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development. His tenure will end on May 31, 2023. Presently, he is on ‘Compulsory Wait’ in the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
