Major Bureaucratic Reshuffle in WB, Bandyopadhyay Appointed As Chief Secretary

Ahead of the 2021 assembly polls in West Bengal, three senior IAS officers have been appointed with new charge. Alapan Bandyopadhyay made the Chief Secretary, HK Dwivedi as Home Secretary and Manoj Pant as Finance Secretary.

In a major administrative rejig in West Bengal, the state has got a new Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, and Finance Secretary ahead of 2021 assembly polls.
Alapan Bandyopadhyay has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary replacing the incumbent Rajiv Sinha, who retired on 30 September 2020. Bandyopadhyay was serving as the Home Secretary and will now take charge as the Chief Secretary from 1 October.
This comes after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter to announce the appointment of these IAS officers.
Whereas, Rajiv Sinha has been appointed as the Chairman of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) for a period of 3 years from 1 October 2020.
H K Dwivedi who was currently serving as the Finance Secretary has also been appointed as the new Home Secretary. Whereas, Manoj Pant, Land Reform Secretary and secretary of the refugee relief and rehabilitation department has been given a new charge of the Finance Secretary.
