In a major switch, the state government has transferred 6 senior IPS officers during the course. IPS officer R Rajasekaran of the 1997 batch on Thursday was appointed the ADG(CID). Rajasekaran replaces Gyanwant Singh, who will now head the Bengal Special Task Force (STF).
Jayanta Kumar Basu, the director, of economic offenses, will be ADG (provisioning). Natarajan Ramesh Babu, earlier posted as ADG (welfare), replaces him to head the economic offenses unit.
Arijit Sinha, DCP (traffic) of Kolkata Police, will now take charge of the Jhargram police superintendent. Jhargram SP Biswajit Ghosh will now be the DCP (DD) Bidhannagar Police.
Manoj Kumar Verma, the Barrackpore police commissioner, will now take additional charge of IG (anti-corruption Branch). This unit was headed by none other than Rajasekaran himself.
A senior police officer has also hinted that more transfers are likely to happen soon.
