On Thursday, the Uttar Pradesh government issued an official order regarding the transfer of 6 IPS officers in the state including DIG Upendra Kumar Agarwal, who was heading the SIT probing into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. He has been transferred and posted as DIG, Devipatan Range (Gonda), but he will continue to supervise the investigation. Earlier he was posted as DIG, Headquarter Inspector General of Police, Lucknow.
The order states that Senior IPS officer of 1999 batch Dr. Sanjeev Gupta has been transferred and posted as Inspector General (IG), Law and Order, Lucknow. Earlier he was posted as IG, Ayodhya Range. Whereas the 2002 batch IPS officer Mr. Anil Kumar Rai has been posted as IG, PAC Central Zone, Lucknow. Previously he was holding the responsibility of IG, Basti Range.
The order further says that the 2002 batch IPS officer Mr. Kavindra Pratap Singh has been posted as IG, Ayodhya Range. Previously he was serving as IG, Prayagraj Range. While Mr. Rajesh Modak has been posted as IG, Basti range. Previously he was posted as IG, Law & Order, Lucknow.
Besides this, the IPS officer of the 2003 batch Mr. Rakesh Singh has been given the responsibility of IG, Prayag Range.
