1995 batch IPS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre, Mr. AVY Krishna, has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of the Central Police Reserve Force (CRPF).
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved his appointment. He will assume his new role on a deputation basis for a tenure of five years.
Mr. Krishna was serving as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Assam.
The appointment comes in the wake of a major reshuffle last month, during which he was relieved of his additional responsibilities as the head of the Special Task Force (STF).
Following the reshuffle, he continued his duties as the Additional Director General of Police (CID), Assam, and Additional Director General of Police, Bureau of Investigation (EO).
Mr. Krishna holds a distinguished career. During his tenure in the CID, he handled several crucial cases, including those involving the Popular Front of India (PFI) and the death of Assam Sub-Inspector Junmoni Rabha, among others.
