The Centre empanelled and promoted two senior officers from the 1990 batch of IRS (C&IT) to the rank of Principal Chief Commissioner / Principal Director General of Customs & Indirect Taxes (Apex Scale). However, their formal postings will be determined later with the approval of the Competent Authority. Until then, they have been instructed to assume charge of the promoted post on an in-situ basis.
The officers promoted are:
- Mr. Raj Kumar (IRS C&IT: 1990) – Service tenure until July 27, 1968
- Mr. Valte Vungzamuan (IRS C&IT: 1990) – Service tenure until March 1, 1967
