In a significant move, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, on Wednesday (05.03.2025), approved the promotion of three officers to the position of Joint Directors in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). These officers were previously serving as Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) in the agency.
The appointed officers are:
- Ashwin Shenvi (IPS:2006:HR), currently serving as DIG in CBI, has been elevated to the role of Joint Director for a tenure of five years, which will extend until September 9, 2025.
- Sudha Singh (IPS:2006:OR), also serving as DIG in the CBI, has been promoted to Joint Director with a tenure of seven years, lasting until July 28, 2026.
- Ashok Kumar (IRS-C&IT:2006), who holds the position of DIG in CBI, has been appointed Joint Director for a tenure of seven years, which will conclude on January 29, 2026.
These new appointments are expected to strengthen the leadership in the CBI, ensuring continued excellence in the agency’s operations and investigations.
