Kolkata: In a significant reshuffle of the state bureaucracy, the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government on Wednesday appointed several key officials to new roles, including three IAS officers and one IFS officer.
1991 batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) batch officer Debal Ray has been named as the Principal Secretary of the Forest Department, in addition to his current role as the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests. Roy replaces Manoj Kumar Agarwal, who was recently appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal.
In another notable move, 1997 batch IAS officer Rajesh Sinha, the Principal Secretary of the Housing Department and Youth Services & Sports, has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of Disaster Management and Civil Defence Departments.
2013 batch IAS officer Anshul Gupta has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA), while 2008 batch IAS officer Dipika Sanyamath will take over as the Secretary of the Mass Education Extension & Library Services Department, replacing the former.
Furthermore, 2011 batch IAS officer Uma Sankar S has been appointed as the Senior Special Secretary of the Agriculture Department.
These changes come as part of the state government’s ongoing administrative reshuffle.
