Mumbai: The Maharashtra government announced a reshuffle in the state’s administrative machinery on Tuesday, transferring five IAS officers, with notable changes at several key positions. Among the major announcements, Anchal Goyal, a 2014 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the new District Collector for Mumbai city.
Ms Goyal, who previously served as the Additional Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), took over her new role in Mumbai following her successful tenure in Nagpur. She had joined NMC on July 31, 2023, and held additional responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Ltd (NSSCDCL). Goyal’s work in Nagpur saw her handling a wide array of departments, including solid waste management, health, education, social welfare, IT, transportation, and property tax.
During her tenure in Nagpur, Goyal spearheaded several impactful initiatives, such as the computerization of waste vehicle monitoring, establishment of health centers, and the achievement of property tax collection targets for the first time in the city’s history. Additionally, she introduced mid-day meal programs for pre-primary students, developed new parks, and pushed for the digitization of NMC’s operations.
In other key appointments, Ankit, an IAS officer, has been transferred to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar as the Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad.
Minal Karanwal and Kavali Meghana have been appointed as Chief Executive Officers for the Zilla Parishads of Jalgaon and Nanded, respectively.
Moreover, Karishma Nair has been posted as the Additional Municipal Commissioner at Nashik Municipal Corporation, while Ranjit Mohan Yadav has been assigned as the Project Officer for ITDP, Gadchiroli, and Assistant Collector for Gadchiroli Sub Division.
These administrative changes are expected to bring new leadership and direction to the respective districts and municipalities, enhancing governance and public service delivery across Maharashtra.
