Kolkata: In a significant reshuffle of the state’s police administration, the West Bengal government on Friday transferred six Indian Police Service (IPS) officers to new postings across various districts.
The most notable change in this reshuffle was the transfer of Surya Pratap Yadav (IPS: 2011: WB), the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Murshidabad, who has now been appointed as the Commanding Officer (CO) of the Narayani Battalion in Cooch Behar.
The full list of transfers is as follows:
- Ananda Roy (IPS-SPS: 2011), previously SP of Jangipur, has been transferred to Salua as CO of the 3rd Battalion, Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR).
- Angshuman Saha (IPS-SPS: 2012), the current CO of Narayani Battalion, Cooch Behar, has been appointed as the CO of the Special Security Force (SSF) in Barrackpore.
- Ashish Maurya (IPS: 2015: WB), who was serving as SS, Intelligence Branch (IB), West Bengal, has been transferred to Ranaghat as SP.
- Kumar Sunny Raj (IPS: 2017: WB), previously SP of Ranaghat, has been appointed as SP of Murshidabad.
- Shaw Kumar Amit (IPS: 2017: WB), the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police (South) in Kolkata, has been transferred and posted as SP of Jangipur.
These transfers are part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its police administration and enhance security measures in various districts.
