In a special move for the festive season, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended the benefits of the old pension scheme to 65 PCS officers. These officers, who joined after the implementation of the National Pension System (NPS), were appointed to advertised posts issued before March 28, 2005.

The government order, issued on June 28, 2024, by the Finance Department, specifies that personnel whose appointment advertisement was published before the NPS notification date but who took charge after April 1, 2005, are eligible for the old pension scheme under the Uttar Pradesh Retirement Benefits Rules, 1961.

Special Secretary of the Appointment Department, Vineet Prakash, has formally confirmed that these 65 PCS officers will now be brought under the old pension scheme, a significant decision welcomed by the officers and their families.
