- Mr Sushi Kumar Maurya, IAS, has died of Covid 19
Fifty three year old IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh, Mr Sushil Kumar Maurya, has fallen victim to Covid 19. After a 15-day long battle with the virus, he passed away this week.
A Special Secretary in the State Government, Mr Maurya was also the nodal officer of Bareilly and Sonbhadra districts, in their fight against coronavirus.
On August 24, Mr Kumar was admitted at the Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science in Lucknow. According to Professor R K Singh, head of the Department of Emergency Medicine and in-charge of the institute’s `Covid Clinic’, the civil servant died of pneumonia triggered by the coronavirus.
A PCS officer of the 1994 batch, Mr Maurya was promoted to the IAS in 2010. Hailing from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, he was the District Magistrate of Basti from January 2018 to May 2018.
At the time of his admission in the hospital, Mr Maurya was serving as Special Secretary in the Language Department of Uttar Pradesh Government.
