New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the central deputation tenure of IAS officer Pushpendra Rajput (Himachal Pradesh cadre, 1999 batch), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the extension will take effect beyond November 29, 2025, and will remain valid for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The approval follows a proposal submitted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, which referred to its office memorandum dated January 16, 2026. The DoPT order approving the extension was issued on February 6, 2026.
Rajput has been handling key administrative and policy responsibilities in the Health Ministry, where continuity in senior leadership is considered crucial for effective implementation of national health programmes and inter-ministerial coordination.
The order has been formally communicated to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and the officer concerned, among other authorities. The directive was issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Sakshi Mittal, Director, DoPT.
The extension reflects the ACC’s confidence in Rajput’s experience and contribution to the Health Ministry, where seasoned officers on central deputation play a vital role in maintaining stability and policy momentum.
