New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension of central deputation tenure of two senior officers in significant government departments the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).
According to the orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 20, 2025, the central tenures of Ajai Kumar Verma (IDSE:2000) and Kushagra Mittal (IRTS:2010) have been extended for one year each, taking into account their continuing inputs in the central administration.
Ajai Kumar Verma (IDSE:2000) – Central Vigilance Commission
Ajai Kumar Verma, a 2000 batch officer of the Indian Defence Service of Engineers (IDSE), will continue as Director in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). Ajai Kumar Verma’s deputation, which commenced on July 2, 2020, was originally due to end on July 1, 2025. With the latest extension, he’ll remain in the CVC until July 1, 2026, or until further orders.
Kushagra Mittal (IRTS:2010) – Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas
In the same vein, Kushagra Mittal, an officer of the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) of the 2010 batch, has also been extended for the post of Director in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG). His initial appointment started on August 11, 2020 and will now run until August 10, 2026 or until further orders.
According to official sources, the extensions were approved on the advice of their ministries and, since their extensions were administrative continuity to keep experienced officers in important strategic assignments.
