New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the elevation of two senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officers of the 1994 batch to the post of Special Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The promoted officers – Manoj Shashidhar and Sampat Meena – have been serving as Additional Directors in the CBI and will now serve in their new roles until their respective superannuation dates.
Manoj Shashidhar to Serve as Special Director till November 2030
Manoj Shashidhar (IPS: 1994: Gujarat cadre) has been promoted to the post of Special Director, CBI, with his tenure lasting until his superannuation on 30th November 2030. Known for his integrity and operational experience, Shashidhar has held key positions within the CBI and various state police departments.
Sampat Meena to Serve as Special Director till March 2031
Sampat Meena (IPS: 1994: Jharkhand cadre) has also been appointed as Special Director, CBI, and will serve in this capacity until 31st March 2031, the date of her superannuation. Meena has had a distinguished career in both state policing and central investigative agencies, including multiple tenures in the CBI where she has led high-profile investigations.
Significance of the Appointments
The elevation of both officers comes at a time when the CBI is under increased public and judicial scrutiny. As Special Directors, Shashidhar and Meena will be responsible for overseeing key investigations and strengthening the operational efficiency of India’s premier investigating agency.
