In an unexpected twist, Agra’s District Magistrate, Arvind Mallappa Bangari, recently conducted a surprise inspection at the iconic Taj Mahal without any security or official frills. Disguised as an everyday tourist, Bangari aimed to assess on-ground arrangements firsthand. However, his unannounced visit led to a surprising encounter with the parking staff, who failed to recognize him and, unaware of his position, responded rudely. When the DM raised questions about the disorganized parking situation, one of the attendants brusquely told him, “Uncle, mind your own business.”
Bangari, known for his dedication, hails from Gadag, Karnataka. Born on March 30, 1981, he initially pursued a path in agriculture, completing his M.Sc. with aspirations of becoming an agricultural scientist. After working in a lab for a year, he was inspired to pursue a career in civil services, leading him to crack the UPSC in 2010 with an impressive All India Rank of 83. By 2011, after a year of training, he became an IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre.
The incident at the Taj Mahal has sparked significant local discussion, highlighting Bangari’s hands-on approach and his commitment to transparent administration. His unconventional inspection approach has drawn public admiration, emphasizing his commitment to improving Agra’s tourist experience.
