New Delhi – In a landmark move toward enterprise modernization, GAIL (India) Ltd. has successfully gone live with SAP S/4HANA, making it the first Maharatna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) to fully migrate to SAP’s next-generation cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The transformation project, aptly named “Navodaya”, marks a new digital dawn in GAIL’s operational and technological journey.
Project Navodaya Officially Launched by GAIL Leadership and SAP India
The formal go-live was inaugurated by GAIL Chairman & Managing Director Sh. Sandeep Kumar Gupta, in the presence of senior leadership including:
- Director (Finance) Mr R.K. Jain
- Director (Projects) Mr Deepak Gupta
- Director (HR) Mr Ayush Gupta
- Director (Marketing) Mr Sanjay Kumar
- Director (Business Development) Mr Rajeev Kumar Singhal
Also present were Sh. Manish Prasad, President & Managing Director of SAP India, along with other senior leaders from both GAIL and SAP, who celebrated this major milestone in GAIL’s digital transformation.
Seamless Migration Completed Within One Year
Hosted on a robust, scalable cloud infrastructure, the migration saw a complete transition from GAIL’s legacy ECC system to SAP S/4HANA Cloud—a move that not only strengthens the PSU’s IT backbone but also enhances agility, data-driven decision-making, and innovation readiness. Remarkably, the entire implementation was completed within the targeted timeline of one year, despite the inherent complexity of such a large-scale transition.
AI, Analytics, and Automation at the Core of GAIL’s New Digital Engine
With the adoption of S/4HANA, GAIL is now empowered to harness cutting-edge capabilities including:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning
- Advanced Analytics and Real-Time Dashboards
- Interactive Fiori Interface
- SAP Joule Apps
- Embedded Automation and Fast Data Processing
These technologies are expected to dramatically improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery across the company’s operations.
