New Delhi: NBCC (India) Ltd has officially commenced Phase I of the AIIMS Residential Redevelopment Project at West Ansari Nagar, New Delhi, with the ceremonial Bhoomi Pujan recently taking place. The event marked the beginning of construction for 156 Type-V residential quarters, a key milestone in upgrading the housing infrastructure for India’s premier medical institution.

The ceremony was graced by senior dignitaries, including Mr K.P. Mahadevaswamy, Chairman & Managing Director of NBCC, Smt Ritu Pande, Chief Vigilance Officer, and other senior officers and distinguished guests.

Rs 144-Crore Project to Provide Modern Housing for AIIMS Staff

Under Phase I, NBCC is investing approximately Rs 144 crore for the construction of these Type-V quarters. The new residences are designed to offer modern, sustainable living spaces for the AIIMS community, in line with the government’s focus on transforming institutional infrastructure.

This initiative is part of a broader redevelopment plan for AIIMS residential areas, aiming to replace old quarters with state-of-the-art facilities that meet contemporary standards.

Two Residential Packages Underway with NBCC Seed Investment

The redevelopment at West Ansari Nagar involves two major packages

  • 117 Type-IV Special Quarters
  • 156 Type-V Quarters

To fund the project initially, NBCC is infusing around Rs 180 crore as seed money, which will be recovered through revenue generated by the project, as per Cabinet-approved mechanisms.

Part of Broader Urban Redevelopment Strategy

NBCC’s growing portfolio in urban infrastructure and institutional redevelopment – highlighted by successes such as the World Trade Center project at Nauroji Nagar – continues to inspire investor confidence. The AIIMS redevelopment is expected to reinforce NBCC’s leadership in delivering green, smart, and resilient public infrastructure.
