New Delhi: Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia, AVSM, VSM, has assumed charge as the Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) at Air Headquarters on September 1, 2025.
With an illustrious service record of 37 years, Air Marshal Ghuratia brings vast technical expertise and leadership experience to his new role. His career has been marked by contributions in aircraft maintenance, operational preparedness, and technical innovation across the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Academic Excellence and Professional Trainin
He is an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, the Air Force Test Pilot School, and the Air Force Technical College. His academic credentials are further strengthened as a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, London, the Aeronautical Society of India, and the Institute of Electronics & Telecommunications Engineers.
Commitment to Modernisation and Readiness
Throughout his career, Air Marshal Ghuratia has held several key positions where he played a pivotal role in enhancing the IAF’s maintenance ecosystem. His leadership in adopting modern practices, strengthening logistics, and driving technology integration has contributed significantly to improving combat readiness.

As Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, he will oversee aircraft maintenance, repair, and logistical support across the IAF. His appointment comes at a crucial time when the Air Force is modernising fleets and expanding indigenous capabilities under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
His expertise will ensure sustained operational availability of platforms while aligning the IAF’s maintenance practices with global aerospace standards.
