In a significant move, the Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders on Tuesday favoring retired IPS officer AB Venkateshwar Rao. The government has officially regularized both suspension periods he faced during the tenure of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).
Commonly known as ABV, he was first suspended from February 2, 2020, to February 7, 2022, followed by a second suspension from June 28, 2022, to May 30, 2024. The new orders confirm that these suspension periods have been regularized, acknowledging that he was actively serving during that time.
Additionally, the government has directed the release of his full salary and allowances for the suspended periods, ensuring he receives all due benefits. This decision marks a significant shift in the state’s stance toward the officer, who has been embroiled in controversies over the years.
