The government of Assam suspended Mr. Muanthang Tungnung, a 2000-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer, after he failed to comply with his transfer orders. Officer Tungnung did not occupy his new office after he was transferred as the Field Director for Manas Tiger Reserve in February 2024 while serving as the Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) for the Dima Hasao district.
Enraged by this, the concerned authority stated that he had violated government guidelines that required officers to comply with transfer orders within a week of receiving them. Citing “unbecoming conduct and violation of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968,” the Assam government suspended Officer Tungnung under the All India Services (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1969.
Officer Tungnung has been mandated to report to the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests in Guwahati.
