Balrampur: In a significant step to boost rural development and provide employment to local workers, the Viksit Bharat Rural Employment and Livelihood Mission has unveiled its work plan for villages in Balrampur for the financial year 2026-27. The program aims to spend ₹1.85 billion on development works, creating over 44 lakh human-days of employment for laborers. The plan has been uploaded on the Yuktadhara portal and is ready for implementation across the district.
Employment for Workers Across 793 Gram Panchayats
The mission will cover 793 gram panchayats, ensuring extensive labor participation in development activities. With a budget allocation of ₹1.88 billion, the program is expected to transform the rural landscape while curbing migration by providing local employment opportunities.
Under the scheme, workers will receive employment for up to 125 days in a year, directly benefiting approximately 1.49 lakh active laborers in the district. This initiative emphasizes both community development and individual benefits for rural residents.

Focus on Infrastructure, Water, and Environment
The 2026-27 work plan includes a wide range of development and livelihood activities, such as:
- Excavation of new ponds and water bodies
- Construction of roads and culverts connecting villages internally and externally
- Building and repair of check dams and embankments
- Soil stabilization and water conservation efforts
- Plantation drives and environmental protection activities
- Promotion of livestock through cattle shed construction
- Housing and sanitation work for those in need
- Development of playgrounds, parks, and other community facilities
Some projects are designed to directly benefit individuals, ensuring that local residents gain tangible advantages alongside community development.
Budget Allocation and Implementation
Approximately 40% of the total budget will be spent on construction materials and other procurement, while the remaining portion will go toward wages for workers. Work proposals at the block and gram panchayat levels have already been prepared and approved. Implementation on the ground is scheduled to begin from April 1, 2026.
The comprehensive plan aims to create sustainable rural infrastructure, conserve water, protect the environment, and improve overall living conditions while providing large-scale employment opportunities for the district’s workforce.

According to Sushil Kumar Agrahari, DC MGNREGA, this initiative will not only generate employment but also transform the rural landscape of Balrampur. From improved roads and bridges to better water management and environmental conservation, the mission is set to enhance both livelihood opportunities and quality of life for villagers across the district.
