She was courageous in her heart and tenacious for dreams. Life tossed all kinds of hurdles but she was not ready to give up. She suffered from rare genetic disorder Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) or brittle bone disease since her birth. Later on she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension (a type of high blood pressure) because of which she had to carry oxygen cylinders with her. However, these problems felt so low in front of her dreams. It is very unfortunate that the journey of this brave heart, Latheesha Ansari has come to end. The 27 year old took her last breath in Pala on the morning of 16th June.

Ms. Ansari was very fond of art and music. She had a YouTube channel and used to paint & play keyboard. In 2019 she became talk of the town after she appeared for the Civil Services Exam with oxygen cylinder. According to her father, she was totally dependent on the cylinder otherwise she could not talk or eat.

When she didn’t make into the UPSC, she took a job at Erumeli co-operative bank while continuing the preparation. She worked there for a while but eventually she had to leave the job because her medical conditions were severe. Even then, she didn’t just sit and started taking online classes for the differently-abled kids.

Talking about her, founder of Amrithavarshini Charitable Society for Osteogenisis Imperfecta, Latha Nair said, “She had great willpower and a positive frame of mind. Despite her condition, she tried for the Civil Services examination, and has been planning to appear for it again.”

Although, she is no more with us but she definitely has inspired and will be inspiring hundreds of us.
