New Delhi: In a significant move to boost indigenous capabilities in defence technology, Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI), Pilani. The partnership aims to jointly design and develop critical advanced technologies for strategic defence applications.
The MoU focuses on collaborative development of Microwave Vacuum Electron Devices (MVEDs), RF and Microwave products, futuristic antennas, and MEMS-based technologies. These solutions are intended for use in radar systems, space applications, communication platforms, and other strategic defence domains.
Supporting Atmanirbhar Bharat in High-End Defence Tech
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) vision by fostering innovation and strengthening domestic research and development in high-end defence technologies. Through this partnership, BEL and CSIR-CEERI aim to reduce dependency on imported components and promote Make in India in the critical domain of defence electronics.

MoU Exchanged at CSIR-CEERI Foundation Day in Pilani
The MoU was formally exchanged during CSIR-CEERI’s Foundation Day celebrations at its campus in Pilani, Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. The documents were signed and exchanged by Ms. Niti Pandit, General Manager (Strategic Planning), BEL, and Dr. Niraj Sinha, Principal Scientist, CSIR-CEERI, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
The collaboration is expected to pave the way for groundbreaking developments in defence electronics and marks another step forward in India’s journey towards strategic technological autonomy.
