Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel’s Massive Public Transport Upgrade: 201 New Buses Ready to Serve Citizens

fIn a decisive move to enhance public transportation across Gujarat, Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel today inaugurated 201 new State Transport (ST) buses from the Gandhinagar depot. This fleet includes 136 Super Express buses, 60 Semi-Luxury buses, and 5 Midi buses, aimed at upgrading connectivity and comfort on multiple routes throughout Gujarat.

Strengthening Public Transport Services with New Buses

The introduction of these 201 buses marks a significant upgrade in Gujarat’s transportation infrastructure. These buses are set to serve diverse routes, catering to the rising demand for efficient and reliable travel options. Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Transport, Mr. Harsh Sanghavi, formally launched the buses during the inauguration ceremony, also acknowledging the commitment of drivers and conductors who ensure smooth operations.

Massive Diwali Transport Boost: 4,200 Additional Buses Deployed

Anticipating the increased travel during the festive season, the Chief Minister announced the deployment of an additional 4,200 buses across the state for the upcoming Diwali festival. This large-scale deployment aims to facilitate hassle-free travel for millions of citizens, enabling them to celebrate the festival with their loved ones without transport concerns.

GSRTC’s Role in Managing Large-Scale Operations

The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has demonstrated robust operational capabilities in recent festivals. It managed over 28,000 trips during the Bhadarvi Poonam fair at Ambaji, more than 22,000 trips during Pavagadh Asho Navratri, and upwards of 7,000 trips during the Janmashtami festival, reflecting the corporation’s ability to handle high passenger volumes effectively.

Daily Impact: Extensive Reach and Passenger Service

Currently, GSRTC operates a vast fleet of over 8,000 buses daily, covering more than 33 lakh kilometers and transporting upwards of 27 lakh passengers statewide. The addition of new buses and enhanced festival services underscores the government’s commitment to sustainable, accessible, and passenger-friendly public transportation.

Government’s Vision for Sustainable Urban Mobility

The fleet expansion is a testament to Gujarat’s focus on sustainable urban mobility and public service delivery. By improving the public transport network, the state government aims to reduce congestion, lower pollution, and offer a dependable transport system that supports economic growth and citizen welfare.
