BEL and SASMOS HET Technologies Partner to Boost Advanced Defence & Aerospace Technologies in India

Bengaluru: In a significant move to strengthen India’s defence capabilities, Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) and SASMOS HET Technologies Ltd, a key player in the aerospace, defence, and space sectors, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 16, 2026. The partnership aims to collaborate on advanced defence technologies and accelerate the development of indigenous solutions.

The MoU was formally exchanged by Mr. Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, and Mr. H.G. Chandrashekar, Chairman & Managing Director of SASMOS, in the presence of Hon’ble Raksha Mantri, Mr. Rajnath Singh, and Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, Secretary (Defence Production).

Strategic Partnership Aligned with Atmanirbhar Bharat

The collaboration between BEL and SASMOS aligns with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, focusing on co-development and co-indigenisation in crucial technology domains. These include:

  • Fibre Optics & Photonics
  • Tank Electronics
  • Naval Systems
  • Airborne Platforms

The partnership aims not only to enhance India’s aerospace and defence capabilities but also to expand the export potential of homegrown products and systems.

Leaders Highlight the Significance of the MoU

Mr. Manoj Jain, CMD of BEL, emphasized:
“This MoU marks a significant step in our journey towards strengthening India’s defence ecosystem. By combining BEL’s expertise in defence electronics with SASMOS’s capabilities in fibre optics and photonics, we are confident of delivering cutting-edge, indigenous solutions that will serve both national and global requirements.”

Mr. H.G. Chandrashekar, Chairman & Managing Director of SASMOS, added:
“We are proud to partner with BEL in this strategic collaboration. Together, we will accelerate innovation, co-develop advanced technologies, and contribute meaningfully to India’s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat 2047.”
