Bengaluru: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, has secured additional orders worth Rs 732 crore since its last update on October 22, 2025. The new orders encompass a range of high-tech defence solutions, including Software Defined Radios (SDRs), tank sub-systems, communication equipment, missile components, financial management software, cyber security solutions, upgrades, spares, and services.

Among the most significant of these new orders are the Software Defined Radios (SDRs), which represent a milestone in India’s defence technology landscape. These SDRs are the first fully indigenous radios designed and developed by BEL in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The state-of-the-art SDRs are compatible with both existing and legacy radio systems, facilitating a smooth transition across communication technologies. These radios are expected to play a crucial role in ensuring secure, real-time communications for the Indian Army, enhancing its operational readiness in the modern, network-centric battlefields.

  3. Communication Equipment and Missile Components:
A wide range of communication equipment and missile components will be supplied, supporting the Army’s communication infrastructure and missile defence systems.

  5. Financial Management Software and Upgrades:
BEL will also provide financial management software and system upgrades, improving operational management across defence platforms.

These orders further solidify BEL’s position as a key player in India’s defence electronics sector, underscoring its pivotal role in supporting the government’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) initiative. By delivering cutting-edge, indigenous solutions, BEL is contributing to the country’s goal of reducing dependence on foreign defence imports and building a robust, self-sustaining defence ecosystem.

Commitment to Indigenous Innovation

The Software Defined Radios, in particular, highlight BEL’s commitment to innovation and indigenization in defence technology.
