Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann inaugurated a modern Sub-Divisional Complex in Talwandi Sabo after paying obeisance at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. The new facility, built at a cost of nearly ₹6 crore, replaces a 40-year-old dilapidated structure and aims to improve public service delivery in the region.
Modern Facility Designed for Public Convenience
The newly constructed three-storey complex spans around 3,000 sq ft and includes 28 rooms. It brings multiple government services under one roof, including:
- SDM and Tehsildar Courts
- Fard Centre
- Treasury Office
- Record Room
- Canteen facility
All offices have been equipped with high-speed internet, while an elevator has been installed to ensure accessibility for citizens.
Boost to Transparency and Efficient Governance
CM Mann said the upgraded infrastructure will ensure faster, more transparent, and hassle-free delivery of government services for residents of Talwandi Sabo and nearby villages.
He added that replacing the old unsafe building was necessary to ensure both public safety and administrative efficiency.
Government Focus on Citizen-Centric Development
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Punjab government is prioritizing modern infrastructure and citizen-focused governance. He said the new complex reflects a shift toward improving grassroots administration and public convenience.
Baisakhi Message at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib
Earlier in the day, CM Mann visited Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and extended greetings on the occasion of Baisakhi. He highlighted the festival’s message of unity, equality, and brotherhood, recalling the formation of the Khalsa by Guru Gobind Singh Ji in 1699 at Anandpur Sahib.
Special Assembly Session on Anti-Sacrilege Bill
CM Mann also announced a special Vidhan Sabha session scheduled for April 13 to pass the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
The proposed law seeks strict punishment for sacrilege cases, including:
- Life imprisonment
- Fine up to ₹25 lakh
The move aims to strengthen deterrence against incidents of religious disrespect and maintain communal harmony in the state.
Strong Push for Governance and Religious Respect
The Punjab government stated that the new infrastructure and proposed legislation together reflect a dual focus on administrative efficiency and safeguarding religious sanctity, reinforcing its commitment to public welfare and social harmony.
