Hoshiarpur: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on 7 April laid the foundation stone of a new Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bikhowal village, Hoshiarpur district, marking a significant step in expanding world-class healthcare services across rural Punjab. This initiative will directly benefit residents of over 40 nearby villages, providing accessible and affordable medical care close to their homes.

₹9.18 Crore CHC to Offer Advanced Medical Facilities

The new CHC, built at a cost of ₹9.18 crore, will have a 30-bed capacity and feature modern healthcare facilities including:

  • Operation theatre
  • Laboratory and diagnostic services
  • X-ray facilities
  • Vaccination services
  • Maternal and child care programs

The project reflects the state government’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare at the doorstep of rural residents, ensuring timely treatment for patients across age groups—from infants and pregnant women to the elderly.

Expansion of Health and Wellness Centres

Alongside the new CHC, the Punjab government is establishing 7 additional Health and Wellness Centres in the Hoshiarpur constituency at a combined investment of ₹4 crore. These centres will further strengthen the healthcare network, offering free medical consultations, medicines, and basic diagnostic services.

CM Mann emphasized that these initiatives will ensure accessible, timely, and affordable healthcare for local communities, significantly reducing travel time and costs for medical treatment.

Direct Benefits to Local Residents

The new CHC and associated wellness centres are designed to directly benefit the public by:

  • Providing free consultations, medicines, and tests
  • Ensuring timely maternal and child care
  • Offering healthcare access to elderly and chronically ill patients
  • Reducing the need for long-distance travel for medical services

This approach demonstrates the government’s focus on people-centric development, aligning with CM Mann’s vision to make Punjab’s rural healthcare infrastructure world-class.

CM Mann’s Vision for Health Sector in Punjab

Under the leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has prioritized expansion of health facilities across rural and urban areas. The establishment of this CHC in Hoshiarpur is part of a broader initiative to:

  • Enhance primary and secondary healthcare services
  • Increase accessibility of medical care for remote villages
  • Strengthen preventive and curative health programs

Through such investments, the government aims to directly improve public health outcomes, ensure financial savings for families, and bring high-quality medical facilities within easy reach of all citizens.

Transforming Rural Healthcare in Punjab

The foundation of the Bikhowal CHC signals a major step forward in Punjab’s healthcare development, combining modern medical infrastructure with accessibility for rural populations. CM Bhagwant Mann’s administration continues to demonstrate commitment to strengthening public health, expanding wellness centres, and improving the quality of life for residents of Hoshiarpur and surrounding villages.

This initiative not only represents a milestone in healthcare delivery but also showcases Punjab’s people-first governance model, ensuring that every citizen has access to timely and reliable medical care.
